Our Story
Where Command Coffee Started
Command Coffee was born from a simple observation: coffee shops often seemed to choose between speed and soul.
Our founder, Danny Heller, saw a gap in the market for a coffee experience that could move with the pace of real life while still feeling warm, thoughtful, and genuinely welcoming. Command Coffee was built to bring those two ideas together: the energy and convenience of a high-volume coffee shop with the hospitality and care of a neighborhood café.
From the beginning, the goal was not just to serve coffee quickly. It was to create a place where people could start their day, take a breath, meet a friend, get work done, or simply enjoy a good cup of coffee.
Efficiency Meets Experience
We believe a great coffee shop should respect people’s time without making the experience feel rushed or transactional. That balance is at the heart of Command Coffee.
Whether someone is pulling through the drive-through, stopping into the café before work, meeting someone downtown, or ordering coffee to brew at home, our goal is the same: make the experience feel easy, warm, consistent, and worth coming back for.
Built in Indianapolis
Today, Command Coffee operates two locations in Indianapolis: our Fall Creek location on College Avenue and our café on Monument Circle. Each location serves a different rhythm of the city, but both are built around the same commitment to quality coffee, thoughtful service, and genuine hospitality.
We are proud to be part of Indianapolis and grateful for the regulars, team members, neighbors, and customers who have helped shape Command Coffee into what it is today.
Roasted In-House
As we have grown, roasting our own coffee has become an important part of who we are. It allows us to be more connected to the coffees we serve, more aware of the wide variety of flavors, and more capable of building a coffee program that reflects our own standards.
Our roasting approach is focused on coffees that are sweet, lively, clean, and enjoyable to drink every day. Whether someone is grabbing a quick drip coffee, ordering a latte, or brewing Command Coffee at home, our goal is to make the experience feel thoughtful without being pretentious.
Where We’re Going
Command Coffee is still a young company, and that is part of what makes this chapter exciting. We are continuing to build the systems, training, leadership, and team needed to serve more people while protecting the hospitality that made the business work in the first place.
Our goal is not to grow for growth’s sake. Our goal is to build one of the Midwest’s most respected specialty coffee companies while staying rooted in the everyday human experience of serving coffee well.
We are proud of where Command Coffee started, grateful for where we are now, and excited for what comes next.
